What PRP Actually Does
PRP starts with a small blood draw, spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma the component of your blood packed with growth factors that drive healing and tissue repair. That plasma is then applied topically during microneedling (sometimes called a "vampire facial") or injected directly, most commonly under the eyes, into the scalp for hair restoration, or into the face for overall skin quality.
Done well, no one knows you got it they just notice your skin or hair looks healthier. Done poorly, results are minimal. The whole game is proper processing and technique. That's what you're paying a provider for.

Safety, Side Effects & Aftercare
PRP has been used in medical and aesthetic settings for decades. Side effects are typically mild and temporary, but it's worth knowing what to expect and who shouldn't get it.
Redness, mild swelling, or bruising at the draw or treatment site — all typically resolve within a few days.
In rare cases, injection-based PRP can cause temporary lumpiness or irritation at the injection site. This is uncommon with experienced providers and resolves on its own.
PRP is not recommended for those with certain blood disorders, active infections at the treatment site, or those on specific blood-thinning medications. Your provider will review your history.
Avoid makeup for the first 24 hours if treated with microneedling, keep the area clean, and avoid direct sun exposure. Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours.
