Safety, Side Effects & Aftercare
Sculptra has been FDA-approved for facial volume loss since 2004. Side effects are typically mild and temporary, but it's worth knowing what to expect and who shouldn't get it.
Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites. Small bumps under the skin can occur and usually resolve with proper aftercare massage.
In rare cases, nodules or firmer bumps can persist beneath the skin, particularly if aftercare massage instructions aren't followed. This is uncommon with experienced injectors and proper technique, and is manageable if it occurs.
Sculptra is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for anyone with a known allergy to poly-L-lactic acid, or for those prone to keloid scarring. Your injector will review your history.
