What Juvederm Actually Does
Juvederm is a family of hyaluronic acid fillers made by Allergan — the same company behind Botox — using a smooth-gel (Vycross or Hylacross) technology that blends seamlessly into surrounding tissue. Different formulas in the line are built for different jobs: Voluma for cheek volume and lift, Vollure for nasolabial folds and marionette lines, Ultra and Ultra Plus for lips, Volbella for lips and under-eyes.
Done well, no one knows you got it. Done poorly, everyone does. The whole game is technique — which Juvederm formula, which depth, which amount. That's what you're paying an injector for.

Juvederm contains lidocaine, which numbs the area as it's injected. We also use topical numbing cream beforehand. Most clients describe pressure and brief pinching rather than sharp pain.

Safety, Side Effects & Aftercare
Juvederm has been FDA-approved and used safely in the U.S. for over a decade. Side effects are typically mild and temporary, but it's worth knowing what to expect and who shouldn't get it.
Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites — most resolve within a few days to a week.
In rare cases, filler can be injected into or near a blood vessel, causing vascular compromise. This is why injector experience and technique matter enormously — it's uncommon with experienced injectors and treatable when caught early.
Juvederm is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for anyone with a known allergy to the product's components (including lidocaine), or for those with active skin infections in the treatment area. Your injector will review your history.
Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive sun or heat exposure for 24 hours. Ice can help manage swelling. Avoid pressing or massaging the area unless your injector instructs otherwise.
