VI Peels are medium strength chemical peels designed for a variety of skin conditions. These peels are suited for individuals of all skin types and tones with dark spots on the skin, wrinkles, fine lines, acne, scarring, and inflammation. If you’ve ever thought about these imperfections, you’ve come to the right place. Here at Flawless Skin Center, all of our VI Peels are performed by registered nurses for your safety. Furthermore, VI Peels are not painful, and each type comes with a kit to protect the skin after the treatment.
Types of VI Peels Available
The original VI Peel comes with an anesthetic to reduce any discomfort from the treatment. There are VI Peels to treat aging skin, lighten dark spots and treat hyperpigmentation, peels to treat regular acne, and a peel to treat severe acne. When you come in for an appointment, our staff will determine which type of peel is best for your skin type. To decide which treatment is right for you, they will first examine your skin and run some tests. Once these results are in, they will set up an appointment for your treatment.
Preparing for and What to Expect During the IV Peel Procedure
A week before you have the peel, we will tell you to stop using any retinoid products and peroxide. Then, we ask for you to stop using any hair removal product or appliances. This is because these products make your skin more prone to irritation and burning during the peel. It’s important to know that the procedure will last about 30 minutes or more. First, our nurse will clean off your skin with acetone so that the peel will work more effectively. After the solution is applied, there might be some burning or irritation, and your skin may turn white in areas affected by the solution.
After the peel penetrates your skin, the nurse will apply sunscreen for protection. When you leave your appointment, you will have to rinse the solution off at home after four hours. We will supply you with Vitamin C and antioxidant-rich towelettes for home use for when your skin begins to peel. If using them burns, our staff recommends using Vaseline or a gentle moisturizer. After treatment, your skin may darken and smell strange. When the skin begins to peel, using a moisturizer may ease the burning and itching. The peeling process may take up to a week to complete, with strips of skin peeling off periodically.
It’s vital to understand that you should not pick at the skin and let it peel off naturally for the best results. Also, your skin may be red and sensitive for a while. Avoid sun and any products that burn and irritate the skin. Most patients need more than one treatment but see results after one week. Generally, two to four treatments are required for the best results.
When You Should Not Have A Chemical Peel
Pregnant and nursing mothers should not have a chemical peel. Those with severe skin conditions like psoriasis or eczema should also avoid this procedure. Furthermore, those with face cancer and those using specific products to treat extreme skin conditions should be tested before having a peel. However, our staff will always check your medical history and perform tests to ensure you are a proper candidate for this treatment.
