How Does Cellulite Reduction Work

How Does Cellulite Reduction Work?

[sharify]

Perceptions around beauty standards and the ideal body type have massively evolved. Nevertheless, while some of us love our genetically-blessed bodies, others might not be too comfortable with their body type. Keeping that in mind, there is nothing wrong with seeking plastic surgery fixes to achieve your desired look. And even though we are slowly yet steadily learning to overthrow our insecurities, certain cosmetic concerns cannot be ignored. Enter: cellulite.

Cellulite is an uneven, lumpy, or dimpled skin usually seen on hips, thighs, abdomen, and buttocks. A buildup of fat underneath the skin causes cellulite to appear and as a result, textured skin is formed on the surface. But is cellulite treatable? Cellulite reduction consists of several topical as well as medical procedures. While topical treatments might not be as effective, medical procedures offer long-term cellulite removal. We discuss this in detail below.

Treatment Options for Cellulite Reduction

To improve the appearance of cellulite, a variety of cellulite reduction treatments are available. They are:

CoolSculpting or Cryolipolysis

While CoolSculpting might not be a surgeon’s first treatment option, it still helps with cellulite reduction. Also known as cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting is performed by using a suction device that draws tissue into the applicator. Cold temperatures are used during the procedure to break down fat cells beneath the skin.

Emtone

Emtone is an in-office cosmetic procedure used to reduce cellulite. Emtone can treat any part of the body struggling with cellulite using emitting acoustic waves that disrupt and stimulate the skin. This improves circulation and prevents fluid collection that gives the skin its dimpled, bumpy effect.

VelaShape

A non-invasive body contouring procedure, VelaShape improves the appearance of cellulite in typically 3 treatment sessions. Combining radiofrequency, infrared light, and suction, VelaShape technology stretches out fibrous bands under the skin and breaks down the fat cells.

QWO injectable

For patients who do not want to go under the knife, QWO injectable is an ideal choice. QWO is the first injectable treatment for cellulite. It is a non-surgical procedure that helps reduce cellulite by injecting a material called collagenases. This enzyme is directly injected into the cellulite to dissolve the fibrous bands that cause them to appear.

Cellulaze Laser Treatment

Laser procedures have been one of the oldest forms of cosmetic treatment. With technological advancements, the type of laser therapies has also progressed. A new type of minimally invasive treatment called Cellulaze targets cellulite removal by attacking the fibrous bands, thin skin, and fatty deposits.

Topical Treatments

While in-office body contouring procedures have been gaining momentum, some of us still like to stick to the old ways of using topical creams and home remedies for cellulite reduction. Even though these treatments won’t make cellulite disappear completely, they would certainly smooth out the skin and improve appearance. That said, creams and lotions containing caffeine are highly recommended to treat cellulite.

Are You a Good Candidate for Cellulite Reduction?

Before getting your hands on any of the above-mentioned treatments, there are things you should consider. You are a good candidate for cellulite removal only if:

  • You are in good overall health
  • You are not happy with the effects cellulite has on your body
  • You are not overweight and have tried exercise and diet for cellulite reduction
  • You must have realistic expectations as these treatments are effective but not permanent
